Ruby Mae (Nelson) Arbogast, 74, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
Ruby was born on July 28, 1951, in Parsons, WV, a daughter of the late William “Bill” Nelson and Betty (Pitzer) Nelson.
Ruby was a faithful member of Laurel Mountain Community Church and found great joy in her church family. She was also a member of the Rowlesburg Senior Center, where she loved spending time with friends, joining in activities, and sharing laughter with those around her. Ruby enjoyed crocheting with her dear friend Lisa, playing Yahtzee, and playing bingo, especially with Sheila, Marie, and Chris. But her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family. She treasured every visit, conversation, and moment shared with those she loved, and her family will forever remember her kind heart, loving spirit, and the happiness she brought into their lives.
Ruby is survived by her four sons, Gary Arbogast, Jr. and wife Sheila, of Elkins, Olie Arbogast and companion Bridgette Flemins, of Rowlesburg, Chris Arbogast, of Rowlesburg, and Joseph Arbogast and companion Andrea Sister, of Elkins; one daughter, Tracy Freeland and companion John Baron, of Morgantown; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Nelson, of Parsons; and one sister, Dorothy Wilson, of Belington.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Gary “Ginsang” Paul Arbogast, Sr.; two brothers, Dennis Nelson and Bill Plum; and one sister, Rebecca Nelson.
Friends will be received for visitation on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, WV, from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral hour, with Pastor Dan Stottlemyer officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thomas, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her Care Fund on her memorial page. Online condolences can be made at www.kingwoodfuneralhomewv.com.
