Robert Menear Obituary

Robert Maxie Menear, 82, passed on with his family by his side March 17, 2020.

He was born March 16, 1938, in the town of Preston, (Larew), West Virginia. His Parents are Lily Maude (Johnson) and John Wesley Menear Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lily, a stepmother, Louella (Johnson) Menear, an aunt, Genevieve (Johnson) Menear, a sister Janet Ruth Kelly, and a brother, Kevin Scott Menear.

He was survived by six brothers and three sisters, Jerry Allen and Linda (McGinnis) Menear, Monte Joe and Constance (Kendrick) Menear, Michael Julian and Virginia (McGinnis) Johnson, Timothy Patrick and Theresa (Lopez) Menear I, John Wesley and Elise (Sarters) Menear Jr., Christopher Dennis and Brenda (Fitzgerald) Menear Sr., Nancy Ellen and (Late)Milford Cross, Charlotte Leigh and Daniel Jenkins, and Sharon Diane and Roberto Gardea.

As Bobby himself would say he had "bunches and bunches" of nieces and nephews and several cousins.

The past few years, to 2020, Bobby and our family was truly blessed with an exceptional caregiver. Our sister-in-law, Virginia, who took such wonderful and loving care of our special brother.

Bobby answered to a few different names, we have Robert, Bob, Bobby (used the most), Boots, Bob Kid (from his close cousin Wilmont Menear, they shared the same house for years). He was also called Bob Kid by his sister.

Bobby loved getting mail, especially on his birthday and Christmas. He would check the mail everyday, when close to these special days. Some days he'd receive one or two and on others he could receive fifteen, on those days he'd say "Ginya, they're rollin' in now!" He loved watching trains and counting train cars as best he could. He loved saving pennies (dirty, shiny and bent ones), fifty cent pieces that he called "Jim Crows" and quarters years ago that had to have 1966, then changed to 1977. He also saved one dollar bills, the little number in the corners changed over the years, from 7's to 11's and finally 12's.

Bob (Robert) lead a full and wonderful life, he never met a stranger and he had tons of friends far and near.

He will be very missed by all his family and friends.
