Norma Lucille (Friend) Johnson

Norma Lucille (Friend) Johnson, 91, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood. She was born in Rowlesburg on August 3, 1934, daughter of the late Lee Friend and Sadie (Jones) Cornett.

Norma had worked at Hopemont State Hospital as a certified nurse’s aide. She loved playing Bingo and Pinochle, and making quilts. Norma will be remembered for her nurturing presence, heartfelt warmth and vibrant spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Norma is survived by three sons, Larry Johnson and Colleen, of Port Royal, SC, James Johnson, St. George, WV, Jonas Johnson Jr. and Mary, of Rowlesburg; one daughter, Linda Jones, of Kingwood; six grandchildren, Rodney Jones Jr., Tanya Smith, Jessica Brown, Nichole Hannon, Shannon Knotts, Joey Johnson; many great and great great grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Friend and Ethel, Richard Friend and Bessie; three sisters, Geneva Wolfe, Hilda Kay Sypolt and Glenn, Margaret Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jonas Johnson Sr.; grandson, Larry Johnson Jr.; granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Johnson; brother, James Cornett; two sisters, Shirley Vinson, and Betty Dean.

Friends and family will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm, and on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 10am until the 11am funeral hour, with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will follow at Sinclair Ridge Cemetery.
