Millard H. “Bebe” Garlits, 100 years young, went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 2, 1922, in Preston County, the son of the late Neil D and Gertrude L. Nickolson Garlits.
Bebe was a USA Army WWII veteran. He owned and operated a dairy and beef farm for years. He retired from Kinney Shoe Factory where he was an engineer. His greatest joy was being with his family and enjoying cookouts in the pavilion he built. He was always working on a project and planning the next one.
Millard is survived by his daughter, Linda Garlits Shrout and husband Roger; a son, Gary Garlits and wife, Vanessa all of Kingwood. Six grandchildren and spouses, Michele Ware Hayes, Tracey Ware & Shelley, Kristy Garlits Ash and Mike, Jeromy Garlits & Jenny, Jason Garlits & Holly all of Kingwood and Courtney Shrout Swisher and Josh of Fellowsville; 12 great grandchildren and spouses, Josh & Megan Hayes, Houston Hayes, Cassie & Spencer Murphy, Caleb Ware & Alexis, Brady Ware & Hailey, Samantha & Trevor Shaffer, Savanna & Isaac Bolyard, Siera Ash, Tori Garlits, Gavin Garlits, Isaac McDaniel Harper and Millie Swisher, Shaun White; four great great grandchildren, Laurel and Ember Shaffer, Willow Bolyard and Clay Ash.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Louise Catherine Greathouse Garlits; his mother and father in laws, Catherine & Kermit Greathouse, his brothers, Rudolph & Glen Garlits; his sister, Winona Umble, Arlene Mays and Lucille Matthews.
Family will receive friends at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood on Sunday Feburay 6, from 2 -8 pm and on Monday February 7, 2022 from 12 noon till 1 pm the funeral hour with Pastor Brian Detrick officiating. Military graveside rites will be coducted by the Prest County Honor Guard and the WVANG funerak Honors. Interment and Military Honors to follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
