Lois Phillips Obituary

 

Lois M. Phillips, 91 formerly of Ridgely, Rowlesburg and Kingwood passed away peacefully Monday, December 14, 2020 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, MD.

 

Lois was born June 26, 1929, in Newburg, a daughter of the late Raymond O. and Eva Ashby Sanders.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, John Howard Phillips, her son, James M. Phillips, sister Doris Adams and daughter in-law, Martha Phillips.

 

Lois was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing and crocheting. When her sons were younger, she never missed any of their extra-curricular activities. She was always keeping herself busy whether it was playing cards or dominoes with family, bowling or playing volleyball. While living in Sun City, FL or Aurora, WV she was very involved in her church. One of her favorite things was vacationing, especially at Harmon Cottages in Cabins, WV.

 

Lois is survived by sons, John Allen Phillips and wife, Dianne of Jane Lew, WV; David Lynn Phillips and wife, Donna of Ridgeley, WV; Richard Paul Phillips and wife, Jill of Hope Mills, NC and a daughter in-law, Janet Lee Phillips of Ft. Ashby, WV.  She was also survived by her grandchildren, TJ Phillips and wife, Bridget, Beth Stone and husband, Chris, Jim Phillips and wife, Laura, Jill Ridgway and husband, Cory, Jenna Smith and husband, Scott, Danny Phillips and wife, Asheton, Marc Phillips and wife, Sydney, Rachel Philips, Levi Phillips, Josian Phillips and Zane Phillips, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren.

 

A special thanks to Ron and Judy Paugh of Aurora, WV as well as the rest of her Aurora family for taking such great care of her, also a special thanks to the staff of Dennett Road Manor for the excellent care.

 

At her wishes, Lois will be cremated. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dennett Road Manor Activities Fund at Dennett Road Manor, 1113 Mary Drive, Oakland MD 21550.
