Ethelyn Nevagene Shaver, 92, of Kingwood and formerly of Rowlesburg passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Windy Hill Manor in Kingwood.
She was born March 15, 1928, in Manheim, a daughter of the late Rennis and Maude Bolyard Shaver.
Her early education was at Manheim Grade School followed by graduating from Rowlesburg High School with honors in 1947. She then went to Baltimore, Maryland, with her older sister, Evelyn. Ethelyn obtained employment as a secretary for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company until her retirement on June 30, 1988. While living in Baltimore she enjoyed going to the beach in Ocean City, reading, lawncare and her cats. Years after her retirement she returned to Manheim to be with her sisters.
Gene is survived by her sisters, Velma and Mary Ellen Shaver
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Shaver.
The family will receive friends during a brief visitation beginning at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 followed by her funeral service at 1 pm with Pastor Wendy Browne officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
During the visitation and funeral social distancing will be observed and masks are required.
