Charles "Charlie" Heroy Johnson

Charles Heroy “Charlie” Johnson, 85, of Kingwood, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior, and our Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Mon Health Medical Center, Morgantown, WV, with family by his side. He was born in Terra Alta, May 10, 1938, a son of the late Isaac Dayton “I.D.” Johnson and Jennie Lillian (Heroy) Johnson.

Charlie was a 1956 graduate of Terra Alta High School. He retired in 1998, after 40 years service at Allegheny Energy Albright Power Station, where he worked in maintenance. “Pap”, as he was mostly known, enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, going to various bashes, telling jokes and stories. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2391. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are: his former wife and mother of his children, Ann Taylor; his daughter, Suzy Keener and companion Kevin Sypolt; his son, Matthew Johnson and wife Zeda; a daughter in law, Barb Johnson; five grandchildren, Nikita Waybright and husband Osten, Nathanael Johnson and fiance’ Brea Brown, Courtney Johnson, Brandi Johnson and companion Chris Cole, and Kaitlyn Johnson; six great grandchildren, Avery Waybright, Sawyer Waybright, Landon Cole, Daniel Brown, Brent Johnson, and Miakoda Johnson; two special nephews, David and Terry Johnson; one special niece, Heather Dukich.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: one son, Mark Johnson; and four brothers, Ralph, Gordon, John, and Marshall Johnson.

At his request he will be cremated. A celebration of life service will take place at 2 pm, Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2391, 75 Eagle Lane, Kingwood. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Preston County Animal Shelter, 278 Poor Farm Road, Kingwood, WV.
