John R. Banister, 86 of Rowlesburg died Monday, October 15, 2018 at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood with family by his side.
He was born May 5, 1932, in Portland, OR, a son of the late Harry and Nellie Banister.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a pilot and owned his own plane. He served in the U S Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Before he retired John worked as an electronic technician for Comsat and AT&T.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Long Banister; his two sons, John Banister of Enumclaw, WA and David Banister of Fairmont; his daughter, Raimona Rowe of Cortland, NY; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca.
A memorial service will be held at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1 pm with Pastor Kevin Kiplinger officiating.
