Iris Loriene (Pete) (Shears) Wiley

Iris Loriene Shears Wiley (Pete Wiley), 91, passed into Heaven on March 10, 2019 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by loving family and friends.

 Iris Loriene was born on February 14, 1928 at home in Kingwood, the daughter of the late Earl and Mearl Nice Shears. She was given the nickname Pete Heart by her mother and the name Pete stayed with her throughout her life. A graduate of Kingwood High School, Pete lettered in basketball while also working at the Raleigh Hotel and the Alpine Theater.  After graduation, Pete married the love of her life and dedicated her time to family and raising their four children; Bruce, Sharon, Denise and David. After her children were grown, Pete worked as a secretary in the legal field.

 Pete was known for her talents in handicrafts and was also a wonderful cook and homemaker.  Her family was spoiled with her gifts of lovely and treasured quilts, special foods at holidays and any requested homemade gift, such as a christening gown. Pete was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, a member of her community and church. She will be remembered for her quick wit, infectious laugh, the willingness to feed anyone who walked through her door and her devotion to God..

Pete will be missed and remembered by her family of four children and their spouses, ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the cornerstone  of her family, devoted member of her church and a true friend to all.

 Pete was also preceded in death by her husband, Harley Wiley; a great granddaughter, Kylan Adams; two sisters and two brothers.

 The family will receive visitors at the Kingwood Church of the Nazarene, on Saturday, March 16, 2019 beginning at 1 pm, with a memorial service at 2 pm led by Pastors Brian Detrick and Mike Delegatti officiating.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone spend a day with your family.
